Dental Work Following Hip or Knee Replacement Surgery
At Desert Orthopedics Center, our providers follow current AAOS guidance regarding dental procedures after total joint replacement surgery.
As a group, we recommend delaying routine dental procedures for approximately 3 months after surgery. Antibiotic prophylaxis may be provided between 3–12 months post-operatively at provider discretion. After 12 months, antibiotics for routine dental procedures are generally not recommended.
Please contact our office if you have questions regarding dental treatment after your surgery.
